Autonomoussystem

In 2017, Formula Student Germany (FSG) introduced the Driverless (DV) class, marking the start of autonomous racing at the competition. FS Team Delft quickly adapted, debuting our first driverless car, the DUT18d, just a year later. Collaborating with MIT Driverless, we replaced the driver’s eyes, brain, and hands by retrofitting the car with a steering actuator, powerful computing units, GPS, cameras, and a LiDAR sensor.

At the time, the driverless category wasn’t as competitive, and the points gained or lost weren’t decisive for the podium. Our primary focus remained on maximizing the performance of our electric vehicle.

But times have changed. The driverless events have grown fiercely competitive, and failing to finish these events could cost us the trophy. With our team’s goal: “to win FSG with a well-integrated car that finishes all events, built by one united team”, we are determined to excel in every category, including driverless.

Our autonomous team has grown significantly, making incredible strides in development. However, to create a well-functioning autonomous system, we need critical components; the eyes, brain, and hands of the car. Securing these requires funding.

Support our mission to replace the driver and achieve greatness!
