DUT20D

After a successful first year in the Driverless competitions, the collaboration with MIT Driverless was continued. Using the same car as last year, this year’s goal was to increase the car's velocity drastically. A brand new steering actuator was installed and an extra set of stereo cameras was added to the sensor suite of the car. The main onboard computer was replaced and moved to a different position, making it possible to refit the original aerodynamics package. Large parts of the autonomous software system were replaced and improved, increasing the robustness of the system by a large margin. Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit the world hard and all competitions were cancelled. To still be able to race against other teams, part of the team set out to create an online virtual driverless competition, FSOnline, in collaboration with FSEast and FSN. This event was a huge success, in which the autonomous system of the DUT20d finished second!
